Bispenol-A

April 9, 2008 -  The Today Show

Once again, the "mainstream media" and entertainers such as Matt Lauer continue to run sensational, inaccurate and highly misleading and misguided reports such as the one ran on The Today Show this morning regarding plastic bottles used for carrying tap water, bottled water packaging and baby bottles that are made of plastics that contain bisphenol-A.  "Bispenol-A has been safely used [in plastics] for decades with not one shred of evidence linking it to any human illness in adults, children or fetuses." says the American Council on Science and Health.

No negative health effects on humans have been observed even if Bisphenol-A (BPA) is consumed a levels 4,000 time greater than those found in a typical U.S. diet as established by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

April 28, 2008 - U.S. Food and Drug Administration Statement - Bisphenol-A

Excerpts from FDA statement:

FDA has been reviewing the emerging literature on BPA on a continuous basis...

Based on our ongoing review, we believe there is a large body of evidence that indicates that FDA-regulated products containing BPA currently on the market are safe and that exposure levels to BPA from food contact materials, including for infants and children, are below those that may cause health effects.

See the complete FDA statement.
